Character Summary

Since 'the accident' as a child -- as her brother calls it -- Leyla became fixated on learning more about dominions, ascension, and other worlds or planes of being. To her, it was an awakening. Medical Doctors only see the epileptic seizures as a condition rather than by-products of having touch something larger than herself. Something Mahmoud Inc. intends to unlock.

The lavish comforts from her parents cash flows never caused Leyla to grow lethargic; if anything she learned many lessons from her family in how to secure position, authority, and wealth. With her brother's help she managed to avoid unforgivable social faux pas while taking advantage of every educational opportunity available. In only a few short years Mahmoud Inc. has become a stronghold in research and development, drawing customers not only from within The City, but without.

Most days are spent navigating the political, economic, and criminal worlds of The City. Yet Leyla manages to find time to hit the town, flirt with beautiful women, and enjoy any number of extreme sports -- such as base jumping and wing-suits. She cherishes every moment even as she pursues longevity; her philosophy is there's no point living forever if there's nothing worth living for. And with that, even after years of going their own ways, the big sister still finds time to slip her younger brother lunches. Every once and a while a little something more, but those are unspoken treats Karim may some day come to appreciate -- or disparage.
The Emperor
Tier 2 - Ascension to THE PRAETOR*
The Praetor is a commander both on and off the battlefield, mixing politics with battle tactics to ensure a victory wherever they go. These are giants among men, commanding attention and respect from all those who meet them.

You feel new possibilities within you. You see new paths to glory and power, allowing you to recognize opportunities others might miss. You seem to attract wealth and power. The dominions Earth, Superior Strength, Superior Speed, and Gold Touch are now augmented. Your character may show unusual command of those dominions for their mastery.
Psychic, Control-based
General - A psychic is a wide-encompassing dominion that can foster great power over time. Psychics dabble in fortune telling and manipulation. Psychics can also put strong mental blocks in people’s minds, making them forget certain memories or even keep secrets locked in destructive magic, so that should they die, someone could not extract that information from their head (they, of course, can also reverse these effects and even break locks put on by weaker psychics or magic). Psychics have a deep resonation with the Astral Plane as well, and if they focus hard enough, they can detect all other spirits in their vicinity, even if they are not in physical form.
Mastery - You focus on mind barriers, from putting locks on super hush hush secrets, to unlocking someone’s full potential or lifting a curse. A very controlled psychic can erase pages of pages of memory from someone’s mental book, and can even explore the deepest mechanisms of the human brain. Control based psychics are typically good at reading a person’s behaviors and ticks, although not to be confused with an Empath, they are very detective-like at higher levels of mastery. Control based psychics are usually the ones that can easily sense spirits and even talk with them at higher levels of mastery.

Alchemy*, Control-based
General - The ability to transmute one thing into something else, or give it properties it might not otherwise have had. Wide base of applications, but it takes time to set up alchemy. You cannot do it instantaneously, because you need the parts of what you’re trying to create. No one can create life through alchemy. They can, however, create alchemic machines. The power and control over alchemy comes with the betrayal of the laws of equivalent exchange. This power can be frightening, as it can even use humans as alchemy materials for greater projects (not to create life, however, as stated before).
Mastery - The quicker and more often you can alchemize without fatigue. At legendary levels of mastery, you could alchemize a sniper rifle, all the ammo you need, a wall of defense, and a cigarette in a few minutes (if you have all the materials of course).

Astral Projection*
General - A rather dangerous dominion, seated in the ability to separate the human soul from the host’s body. The soul is undetectable except by stronger empaths and psychics, and can go about spying, peeping, or haunting as it pleases. The human psyche/brain can be very damaged from a disconnect between demon and human; tread carefully with this dominion.

General - The ability to manipulate attraction, whether platonic, physical or romantic, in other people towards yourself. More persuasive speaking, more successful seduction, and a great deal of ability to control the attention of and fill a room. Pheromones work passively, so you can’t turn this dominion off.

Superior Endurance
General - Accelerated endurance. This dominion means you can endure greater pressure, deeper pain, greater strain both physical and emotional, and more dangerous situations than you normally would be able to. Can also run farther and do more laborious things without getting tired.

General - Ability to manipulate technology. Manifested as a special form of electrical/telekinetic manipulation, a special form of "morphing" which allows physical interaction with machines, or even a psychic ability that allows for mental interface with computer data.

General - The ability to detect others’ lies and keep your own lies from detection.

Character In-Depth

Karim. Her little brother. As strong and driven as he was, and with all the expectations on his shoulders, Leyla always just saw him as the little brother she needed to look out for. Seven-years older than Karim, she made sure he never needed anything. Spoiled, in a word. With their parents busy managing a shipping empire someone had to take care of Karim.

It'd never been a chore watching out for her brother, but after 'the accident' things had changed. Karim blames himself to this day what happened, even though he was the one that'd found her and called emergency services. Leyla never understood why, but adolescence and a new found obsession kept her from prying. It also slowly began to cause the two to drift apart -- at least to the point Leyla wasn't dotting on her younger brother constantly. The entire world had changed after the first seizure, and there was no going back to be simply content. In what may have only been a few moments in time she'd witnessed another plane of being. More than even The City when compared to the Mundane world. A deep need to return or embrace the bountiful harvest of dominions, ascensions, and whatever else might exist beyond their current level of understanding grew inside Leyla.

Though the obsession was tempered initially. She couldn't run off into the wild and expect another spiritual experience that wouldn't kill her. Every academic and social opportunity was seized and would later form the basis of her power later in life. Leyla even developed an interest in their parent's empire; though she never let them convince her to be content with picking up the family business.

There were also the other girls in her life. Karim laughed when she confessed being interested in those of her own sex. Her younger brother seemed to have figured out his own preferences in both, but Leyla still had to teach him the word 'bisexual.' That equal share interest didn't carry over to Leyla, however. Once it was out -- at least to her closest confidant, Karim -- she began experimenting between course work and business education demands. The need to learn more of the Other World throbbed, but not so brightly as lust at the time.

By twenty-two Leyla had already earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Engineering in Bioengineering. Her late adolescent years had flown by in a frenzy of coursework and adrenaline rushes. Her academic career didn't end there, however; Leyla began work on a PhD in Bioengineering shortly afterward.

Four years later -- after Mahmoud Inc. had been founded, built, and integrated into society -- Karim called his big sister up with an...unexpected proposal. At first Leyla declined. Could they build it? This was Mahmoud Inc., they could do anything. It was their motto. But to hand one over to her baby brother who sounded far too eager to put himself in peril? Well, she needed to see how convicted he was to follow this road in life first. Given almost incessant follow-ups by Karim over weeks it was obvious he'd found his own obsession; Leyla finally capitulated and built it to specification. Though she couldn't help but make a few mirthful remarks about his choices.

Just as she'd expected, Karim's first joy ride as a 'hero' nearly got him killed; something he strove to downplay in every way. Leyla put on the firm demeanor to try and temper his zeal so 'nearly' didn't become a certainty next time. 'The suit wasn't cheap,' she jokingly explained. Despite their conversation, however, she used a few contacts to put the moniker 'Onyx' in the media's ear. If Karim wanted to play the hero then she was going to support him in every way she could.

In recent days Leyla has shown no signs of slowing Mahmoud Inc. inserting itself in every conceivable research and development project surrounding dominions and ascension. Many other projects are underway to keep the company solvent, but its CEO's personal interest in the Other (magic, to use the vernacular) has kept complacency at arm's length. Her intent? If someone has any interest in understanding dominions they'd need to work with Mahmoud Inc. More to the point, they'd have to work with her. Fortunately, for them, Leyla is a reasonable business partner provided those she's working with don't waste her time, or try to embezzle money or resources.

Leyla is an experienced extreme sports practitioner. She's base jumped off some of the tallest structures in The City, flown down countless hillsides and valleys, and generally enjoys tempting fate. Unlike her brother (an alcohol-free promoter), however, she is also a very accomplished alcohol drinker; which works out quite well as there's little in common between the guest lists for parties the brother and sister host separately. Leyla's also quite extroverted and enjoys meeting new people, especially if they have abilities or demonic companions she's never had the pleasure of meeting before.

There's never been a time in Leyla's life she's had to worry about whether there was enough money in the bank for practically anything. Even out from under her parents' financials Mahmoud Inc. is an exceptionally wealthy enterprise with countless contracts. Despite that wealth, however, Leyla is not a snob; she enjoys 'getting dirty' as much as she does gaudy balls. She'll try anything once, and entertains even the most outrageous of ideas -- like building Karim's exosuit -- so long as it doesn't grow uninspired, lifeless, or dull. The moment the 'magic' is gone so too is her interest. Life's too short (a problem she hopes to correct some day).

In theory, almost anything being developed by Mahmoud Inc. Though in practice she can't just walk around with prototype material with the risk of it being lost, stolen, or damaged. Plus if anyone noticed it missing there'd be contractually uncomfortable scrutiny.

That said there are a few items she's purchased for her own use. CEO's prerogative. An anti-dominion collar or necklace, for example. Unfortunately an ambitious woman like herself has plenty of enemies.

Epileptic seizures can drop Leyla without warning if she hasn't taken her medicine. It's rare, but has happened once or twice due to circumstances outside of her control -- or the dogged pursuit of something 'magical' with time passing unnoticed.

CEO of a high-profile company like her own makes her the target of many -- either for money, influence, or blood. There's little she can do to hide from those with the resources to track her movements. Despite the danger, Leyla continues frequenting venues high and low.

Demon Information

Lilith, a seductress as her name implies, isn't consumed by sexual appetites (though she's not asexual). The most nutritious meal comes from Humans driven by a deep passion or need within themselves. Often these are CEOs, visionaries, or those that would one day become historical figures by their actions. Someone starving for a hamburger isn't worth the sodium in their diet; it has to be a long-term dedication. An obsession.

Her hunger is representative of her own demonic nature. Lilith has been a major influence in her host's development. They essentially feed-off of (inspire) one another, creating a feedback loop of encouragement and motivation. The more obsessed and passionate Leyla is the more she draws those like herself close and in so doing feeds Lilith.

This feedback loop is so strong it has come to shape Lilith's appearance when she takes corporeal form. Some might mistake it for a lack of creativity or exposure, or even that of a newborn demon, but it is the result of the depth of the connection between demon and host. When manifested Lilith appears like Leyla the Host's identical twin. Every now and then the two of them even change roles with people speaking to Lilith under the impression it's Leyla.
