Character Summary

Big guns? Mortal danger? Criminal underworld? Risqué sex? What the hell. Maintaining Order's all well and good, but at the end of the day if you aren't enjoying tearing a son of a bitch into pieces, tossing back a few with the guys, or just having a damn good time then what's the point? The job pays the bar tab and you can find some solid company to hang with. Just wish the damn paperwork would set itself on fire.

Tier 1. Ascension to "THE BATMAN"

They are vengeance. They are the night. The Batman upholds justice and truth, but unfortunately is limited to black-and-white thinking. The Batman maintains a conscious awareness that their decisions and actions have long-term consequences.
You feel new possibilities within you. You can now have increased persuasion. You have gained sharper senses, eyesight, and hearing. The dominions superior senses, fire, telepathy, and weather are now augmented. Your character may show unusual command of those dominions for their mastery.
Shapeshifter *
General - The ability to transform and reshape the form of one’s body.

Specialization - Power Based: You are more realistically driven. You can change yourself to look like any person you’d like, although perfectly copying someone’s outward (ex. hair, nose, mouth, etc.) and inward (ex. blood type, dna, etc.) structure takes time and mastery.

General - The ability to manipulate attraction, whether platonic, physical or romantic, in other people towards yourself. More persuasive speaking, more successful seduction, and a great deal of ability to control the attention of and fill a room. Pheromones work passively, so you can’t turn this dominion off.

Specialization - Control Based: Better control of how you affect someone.

Superior Strength
General - Increased strength. This dominion encompasses the temporary or full-time manipulation of muscles, though this may not have outward physical effects.

Specialization - Control Based: You can remain strong for longer, at higher masteries indefinitely, but not do the same amazing short-term blasts of a power-based user of this dominion.

General - The manipulation, creation and control of sound waves in the air. Encompasses everything from destructive percussion blasts to redirecting your conversation so someone nearby can’t hear it.

General - The reanimation of the dead. Anything living that has since died can be reanimated, depending on how strong the dominion is, how long the thing has been dead, and how large it is. The thing reanimated cannot truly think, but can follow orders, sometimes even after the necromancer has died.

General - The ability to regenerate lost limbs, organs, and cartilage on oneself.

Character In-Depth

Cyrene Ronan was not born, she was made. Born of a sex slave, the girl that would become Cyrene started at the bottom of the ladder. Those that owned them promised a future full of no more meaning than sating hedonistic desires; the fate of her mother, herself, and promised to any children sired from captivity. An endless cycle for a living, disposable sex toy. Until her body had grown strong enough to manifest the primal demonic equally discontent with being a plaything of others.

After Cyrene bathed in the blood of captor and 'guest' alike, her mother was killed when shielding the enraged daughter from being shot by their owner. A fledgling talent in necromancy animated her mother's body once more, which flung itself at the man and sent them both from a lofty perch that'd kept him out of reach. Before he could recover Cyrene straddled his chest and wrapped her claws about his throat. He did not die well, but Cyrene did enjoy watching as the last mote of life was extinguished in his eyes.

Alone, the youth wandered out into the world on her own. A place not any more forgiving or accepting than the one she'd left. One where she constructed her own identity; a trifle task where the truth garnered ample sympathy. It also drew the attention of those that would have had her captive once more, but none had half the success of the first.

Given the less than ideal upbringing, Cyrene had to do a great deal of catching up in terms of education and social etiquette. There were countless instances of misinterpretation and no shortage of 'lashing out.' Despite the heartache she brought on those around her, however, the young woman did appear to excel at learning. By the time she was eighteen Cyrene managed to graduate High School; despite not having quite as much luck at establishing lasting relationships.

There'd been ample reason to apply herself, however. Not to satisfy the Foster parents, despite their patient suffering. It was so she could join the Army. Not from patriotism, but with the hope of being placed in harm's way. Unfortunately, the idea of women in certain roles wasn't held in high esteem still. So Cyrene did the only logical thing and became a man. 'Cyr' had a little trouble with the enrollment process, but after a little convincing -- and a few demonstrations of her capabilities matching her physique -- nothing some hand-waving didn't solve.

After eight years being enlisted, 'Cyr' was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant with the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (or Delta Force). The ability to change appearances made 'Cyr' a valuable asset infiltrating enemy territory and performing vital reconnaissance. His/her natural affinity with others and a healthy survival instinct also contributed to mission success. What may have required cutting the enlistment short of a lifetime career, however, was a growing viciousness toward the enemy. More than once 'Cyr' came back covered in blood; which while admirable did raise a few psychological red flags.

That 'viciousness' gnawed at Cyrene. The demon that manifested itself hungered. With civilian life facing her she was forced to reevaluate her circumstances. Law Enforcement seemed a reasonable and obvious solution. It was a naturally risk-prone job. Cyrene liked risk. All it took was carefully controlling the intake psyche evaluation to avoid drawing unwanted attention. The military records wouldn't be any problem at all since most were classified by virtue of the sensitivity of her assignments.

Undercover work suited the officer in particular. Fitting work that provided ample opportunity to enjoy what she did for a living. At least between stacks of paperwork -- the drudgery she and everyone else could live without. And she even managed to continue 'contributing to society.' That sounded really good. Cyrene still wasn't entirely sure why she should care, but if it meant she could continue doing what she enjoyed it worked for all involved.

Surprisingly -- especially other Legion after hours -- Cyrene had grown better at interacting with people. Her time in the armed forces had introduced her to a variety of people few of whom were dull or withdrawn. If your life depended on those around you, and you were stuck in the ass end of nowhere, you tended to connect with the few creatures in the world not trying to kill you. That stuck even in the presence of people she'd never met before. Not that she trusted them, but hanging out at a bar, boasting about conquests... hell, nothing wrong with living life.

Demon Information

'It' may have a name, but it doesn't speak. All Cyrene knows of it is the thirst for blood and gore. From the way it manifests as gauntlets encompassing her entire forearms in scale-like armor and shrouds her fingers in razor-sharp claws it seems pretty obvious what it wants -- and that's not attending a knitting class. Lack of higher level forms of communication make it difficult to convey, but there have been times when Cyrene learned as much about how to survive from her demon as any instructor. Sensations, impressions, or instincts not entirely her own guiding her along the way.

It's own history extends back to the early days of the shinobi (ninja or ninjutsu). In the First Days it'd existed as rudimentary tekko-kagi, or clawed gloves. They had been simpler times and the demon new born. Over the centuries it had changed from one host to the next, growing stronger with its appearance reflecting that strength. Now rather than what might be mistaken as a farmer's makeshift weapon was something worthy of a demonic suit of armor; and with time It might very well grow into that shape. Ripping the flesh and blood from others will help speed along its development.

Unfortunately it's appetite is difficult to sate in a 'civilized' world. Tearing into a flank of raw beef can help for a time, but remaining sidelined is perhaps Cyrene's worst fear. Staying in the midst of the chaos in The City is about the surest way of satisfying the beast while not ending up incarcerated herself. How long she manages to maintain that balance remains to be seen.
