Egdemoor OOC Information

I am Edgemoor, and I consider myself to be a very open and friendly individual. The only serious triggers I have are player disrespect and god moding. Anything else is fair game. I love gore, violence, sex, and deep character development. I love to challenge, and I love to be challenged in return. Don't be shy about contacting me for anything, whether it be about characters, site help, or life. I look forward to playing with you.

Character Summary

Be humble

Reach beyond your potential.

If you need to fuck up someone's life in order to better your own, then maybe you need to step back and reassess what it is that you really want.

Shawn Wilde has never really fit in anywhere. For reasons he can't explain, he's always felt somehow apart from his life. While his choices have always been his own, he has never been able to grasp where he fits in the world. He has always been that guy on the outside looking in. The one who has always wanted to get in there and be a part of something bigger. Despite being a large, confident individual with no lack of personality, Shawn can't say that he's ever been in a place in his life where he thought, 'this is it. This is where I belong.'.

Between his life as an an army ranger, his try at being a criminal, and his more recent career as a Legion Sergeant, he still has yet to figure out where he really belongs. Every time he thinks he has a grasp on life - every time he feels like he has something with as much potential as he wants to believe that he has - it all crumbles into dust.

His attitude, though, however much he struggles with himself, has not suffered. Shawn has always had inner strength. Balance and stability. He has always seen the good - the greatness - in others as much as he sees it in himself. And it's not arrogance that he believes that he has what it takes to be successful. Such a thing was born out of the ashes of death and heartache and grueling life lessons.

Within the Vetela Precinct, he's known as 'Ride or Die' because his driving skills are over the top, but effective. He can get anyone out of any situation; if he wants to make it easy, he makes use of his vision and hallucinations, but he's always determined that it's a whole lot more satisfying without them.

Shawn is the kind of guy who will help anyone in need. Or anything. He will drop everything in order to make sure you can have a better life, even if it's just for a little while. He'll stay long past his shift to help a co worker or he'll stop traffic so that confused wildlife can cross the road. His reckless, fun loving behavior works seamlessly with his natural compassion, but it, unfortunately, tends to get him into trouble from time to time.

Strength Tier 2. Ascension to “THE DAME”

The dame has seen and done many things, and is no longer surprised by much. She has come to understand the power she holds and is able to wield it efficiently. The dame overcomes challenges with grace and poise.

You feel new possibilities within you. You can now access your innate strength for short periods of time, increasing your strength, speed, endurance, and senses - even if you don’t hold those dominions. You can also now experience increased mental capacity, but you may become more animalistic. The dominions shape shifter, superior senses, superior endurance, superior strength and superior speed are now augmented. Your character may show unusual command of those dominions for their mastery.

Dominion 1

Mastery: Minor

Phasing: The ability to move through solid or semi-solid objects as if they weren’t there.

Power Based: Movement through thicker and more difficult objects.

Control Based: More ability to bring objects with you, including your clothes.

Dominion 2

Mastery: Legendary

Hallucinations: The ability to create, induce or control hallucinations.

Power Based: The easier it is to make these illusions, as well as the more powerful/realistic these hallucinations, will be. Legends have been able to vex victims so harshly that they end up taking their own life.

Control Based: The easier it is to create specific hallucinations (i.e. showing the person a graphic, bloody depiction of a deceased relative). You can typically tell when you are being put under an illusion as well.

Dominion 3

Mastery: Greater

Vision: The ability to have power through one’s vision, which could include but not limited to: heat vision, laser vision, magnified vision, night vision, or x-ray vision. Lesser mastery users can only use one type of vision, and as they gain higher mastery levels they can use a wider variety of visions.

Power Based: Vision is amplified, but you will have trouble controlling which to use, and when. It isn’t uncommon for your vision to change randomly when you least expect it.

Control Based: Your other visions aren’t as powerful as your normal eyesight, but you have more control over them and are less likely to have your vision switching on you without your knowledge.

Dominion 4

Mastery: Minor

Acid: The ability to create, manipulate, strengthen, dilute and harbor immunity to all acids.

Power: The more caustic and lethal the acids generated can be.

Control: The larger quantity of acid that can be generated or manipulated.

Dominion 5

Mastery: Lesser

Reflections: The ability to manipulate reflections and see deeper truths in reflections.

Power Based: The easier it is to manipulate reflections and cause others to see reflections rather than true representations of life.

Control Based: The more information you can draw from reflections.

Character In-Depth

TRIGGER WARNING: Death, attempted suicide

Every time I think maybe I'm headin' in the right direction, I end up in a place I never even knew could feel this bad.

They moved around a lot, like most military families did. Never in the same place for more than a year or two, Shawn never really got to make many friends. And those he did make were lost as soon as he found them. it was a heartbreaking and disappointing life, but as much as it saddened him, he never did lose his optimism. He was always hopeful that the next move would be the last. Always hopeful that the last tour his father went on would be the final one.

Shawn was only 12 when the officers knocked on the door of his house. Two men in full uniform who he didn't recognize. His mother, as soon as she saw them, seemed to know that something had happened. She shattered right then and there, her hand cupping over her mouth as she collapsed into uncontrollable sobs.

"I'm sorry, son," said one of the officers.

And then they left.

His mother killed herself early that morning. Shawn heard the pop of the gun, and when he found her in her room, he didn't cry. He just slowly walked over, grabbed one of the blankets, and pulled it over her body on the floor. And then he sat down next to her, staring blankly at the wall across from him. Finally understand that, in just one single night, he had lost everyone he'd ever had.

Shawn was 13 when he was admitted by one of his father's friends into the military academy. It was the only life he had ever really known, and he had spent the last year despondent and depressed. He was diagnosed with severe denationalization disorder, his mind's way of coping with the trauma he'd endured only months ago. Doctors believed that the military was the best way to 'get him back'. They hoped the combination of socialization and disciplines would allow him to one day have a normal life.

The 'treatment' worked, and by the time Shawn was 16 years of age, he was coming into his own. He graduated from the academy when he was 17 and joined the Army Rangers, throwing himself into the only way of life he'd ever known. He was his parents' legacy... and he wanted to make them proud.

He fell in love with a young man by the name of Joseph Rory at the age of 19, by then a Corporal. His swift rise in the ranks came as no surprise to anyone, and most of the higher ranking officers had known or been familiar with his parents. Joseph and Shawn kept their relationship a secret until several high ranking officers discovered them together late one night. They dragged Rory off into the night and held Shawn where he was. Making him listen to the howling screams of his very first love. He was helpless against them, once again unable to save those closest to him.

The death of Joseph broke the Corporal, and for the next several nights he sat awake, staring at his ColtM1911 and wondering if he would ever have the courage to press its cold muzzle between his teeth and fire.

A week after Joseph's death, he did. He dressed meticulously in his formal uniform and neatly cleaned his room. He dusted and he vacuumed and he wiped everything down with the strongest cleaning solution that he could find. There was supposed to be an officer's Ball tonight, so the fact that he was in formal wear wouldn't attract much attention; they were even expecting him. But he wasn't going to attend.

He sat slowly, hands coated in white fabric, and lifted his pistol. He just held it in his hands for a long time before he slowly moved it up to his right temple. A thumb cocked the hammer back. A finger squeezed the trigger.

Nothing happened. That night, for the very first time since he had become an Army Ranger, his weapon jammed. Shawn took it as a sign, as tough as it was, and approached his counselor for help. The following day, he was dishonorably discharged, their way of covering up exactly why he was leaving.

Shawn's demon, at the time, had been relatively quiet throughout his life. Suppressed by military life and Shawn's lingering disassociate disorder, she had never found reason to make much of an appearance. Now that they were alone, however... she felt that it was time to meet him face to face.

Once and for all.

He was back in that same place again - with his hand wrapped around the solid hardness of his gun, the hammer back. Index finger against the trigger. Alone and without purpose, Shawn was crushed under the weight of everything he didn't understand how to process; he just couldn't deal.

So she struck him, the metallic spikes of her ferocious tail sending the gun flying. He attacked her, military training and reflexes immediately coming into play... until he realizes just who - and what - she was.

She suggested that they leave for the city, and he agreed; he couldn't stay in the human world. All paths would inevitably lead to the muzzle of a gun between his teeth, and he knew it.

Shawn fell in love with Vetela when they arrived, and he immediately made it his home. Between his skillset and his demon's urging, he eventually became invested with a Kairos family. For 7 years he worked for them, acting as a professional driver for smugglers who needed to get out or into places quickly. His vision and his hallucinations especially made him an asset, and he did well at the job. All the while, he knew someone was after him. Stalking him. Kairos' greatest enemy, Legion, always seemed to be there, but he had the know how to lose them whenever it was necessary.

One night, however, he made a mistake. A Legion Captain finally caught up to him and put him behind bars.

Within 3 nights he was out, and he went straight back to the life he'd immersed himself into. he was caught twice more before the Captain finally made him a deal: Turn your back on Kairos and become Legion. Shawn had more than a few scores to settle in Vetela; afterall, it was a bloodthirsty, cutthroat world, and he'd used it as an excuse to pretend that his previous life as an Army Ranger had never even existed.

It was time to face his dues. The real way.

Shawn agreed to the Captain's offer and became Legion. He worked hard, just as he had as a Ranger, and he rose in the ranks shockingly quickly. Now a Sergeant and in a place where he feels as though he can help others rather than harm them, he can only hope that this time... this is the life that will make his true potential and love for the world shine.

Demon Information

Legend has it that Scorpio was created by the Gaia, the Earth Goddess, in order to kill Orion. Orion, in his arrogance, bragged that he would kill every animal in the world. Created in order to protect all the beasts and creatures of the world, Scorpio went into battle with Orion and stung him on the heel. Her poison killed him, and the world was saved.

The myth goes on to state that both Scorpio and Orion were placed into the sky as constellations. They can still be seen today in the night sky, with neither of them ever appearing in the sky at the same time. As the moon rises, Scorpio can be seen rising behind Orion, who is fleeing for his life. A giant forever afraid of his greatest nemesis.

She feeds on Shawn's vibrancy for life and his will to live. When his medications fail him, and when he feels as though he cannot go on, she suffers just as poorly and must take it upon herself to draw him back... lest they both perish.
