Character Summary

Once upon a time, Gil would have gladly and whole-heartedly told you that he was pathetic. That he was lesser. Over the years, he's gotten better at realizing that everything he heard growing up isn't the truth, and that he has a lot more worth than his parents believed him to have. Sarcastic and smart, he's scrappy and he isn't the type to back down from a fight even if he knows he can't win. He had to learn the hard way, after all, that pain can push you farther.

Gil grew up in a well off family up in Minnesota, at least until he was old enough that his parents could reasonably foist him off on his Aunt. He learned early on that the world isn't a nice place, especially if you're different from what others want you to be. He has a soft spot for the underdog and one thing he craves more than anything else is a place to belong, even if he won't admit it.

The Lovers Tier 1. Ascension to "THE CAPULET"
Love is a sacrifice, and that is never more obvious than with the capulet’s willingness to give up what they have for the safety and happiness of another. They value mutual attraction and harmony in relationships, and are generally risk-averse. They avoid conflict. The capulet is a lover, not a fighter.
You feel new possibilities within you. You can now easily persuade other people. The empathy dominion has a greater effect on you than on most. The dominions pathfinding, empathy, telepathy, and pheromones are now augmented. Any dominion you and the person you most care about share is also augmented. Your character may show unusual command of those dominions for their mastery.

Dominion 1
Superior Endurance
Mastery: Major
Superior Endurance: Accelerated endurance. This dominion means you can endure greater pressure, deeper pain, greater strain both physical and emotional, and more dangerous situations than you normally would be able to. Can also run farther and do more laborious things without getting tired.
Power Based: Greater physical strain.

Dominion 2
Mastery: Major
Augmentation: The ability to enhance or weaken someone else’s dominions. A user cannot augment someone’s mastery level more than one level above their current one (i.e. Lesser can only be augmented to Minor, nothing above that), however Legendary cannot be augmented to Godly; it’s impossible. A user also cannot augment someone’s mastery above their augmentation’s mastery level (i.e. a Minor augmentation user cannot change someone’s mastery level to superior or anything above Minor). It’s similar if you’re trying to weaken someone’s dominion, rather than enhance. Using this power is very taxing on the body, and will often leave said user weak and unable to use any of their other dominions afterwards. It cannot be used on yourself.
Power Based: The easier it is to enhance someone else’s dominions.

Dominion 3
Mastery: Minor
Reflections: The ability to manipulate reflections and see deeper truths in reflections.
Control Based: The more information you can can draw from reflections

Dominion 4
Mastery: Minor
Empathy: The ability to fully interpret and replicate the emotions of others. An empath often experiences mood swings at lower levels when in large crowds of people if they are unable to control their dominion. Whereas more controlled empaths may lack the strength to ward off powerful demons.
Power Based: The better you are at warding off bad energies, but less able to control and understand the emotions interpreted.

Dominion 5
Mastery: Greater
Precognition: The ability to see into the immediate future or past events of ones own self or another's by touch.
Power Based: The easier it is to see a longer span of time for one's future. Particularly good for sensing danger.

Dominion 6
Electrical Teleport
Mastery: Minor
Electrical Transport: The ability to travel through electrical conduits such as, but not limited to: cell phones, computers, power lines, telephone lines, television sets, etc. The user is essentially turned into electricity themselves, however they can only use this power as a method of transportation.
Control Based: The greater control you have over which device to move through, however you move at a slower rate and cannot move through too many at once before you must return to your physical form.

Character In-Depth

TW: Homophobia, mental abuse, bullying, neglect

In most families, the birth of a child is a cause for rejoicing. It is a chance to expand the family, to bring in new life. Perhaps, if things had been a little different, then Gil might have been more accepted than he was. He was the elder twin, and it was the first time he ever seemed to excel against his twin sister.

Where he was a colicky, gentle baby, she was bright and sweet and vibrant. He cried at the drop of a hat and she smiled charmingly. He fell and broke things and she was walking and talking with grace and poise. She learned well and he was easily distracted by new information, new things to learn. They were light and dark, Lisette and Lancelot. And the divide only grew as they did.

Where once they managed to remain friends, their parents managed to divide them. As Lisette thrived, the attention drew towards her. The phrase Gil most remembers hearing growing up was, "Why can't you be more like Lisette? Why can't you be normal?"

Gil grew bitter, and withdrew into himself. He resented his sister and the way she made friends so much easier than him. The way she stood by as her friends mocked him, until the day that she finally began to join in. The disappointment on his parent's face grew, and the snide comments, the mockery came from them as well as he failed to live up to their expectations.

The only light in Gil's life were the visits from his Aunt Katherine. She was crass, and sarcastic, and rude. She didn't let anyone tell her what to do, and most importantly? She adored Gil. She was the one who started calling him by his nickname, telling him that Lancelot just didn't suit him yet. She taught him how to use a camera, showed him how to trick his mind into focusing on one thing at a time without curbing his curiosity. And most importantly? She listened, and she conversed with him. She accepted him.

She accepted him even where his parents shunned him. Where his father hated him, was disgusted by him, when he admitted that he had no interest in the girls his father kept trying to promote interest in, in hopes for a merger between businesses in the future. When his father cast him out, she took him in and took him with her. Home schooled him and took him to see the world. Taught him languages and how to live off of the land when one of the stories she chased was off the beaten path.

A world of magic and adventure awaited him, and he thrived. But even then, that niggling doubt remained. He wasn't as big and strong as the men who traveled with Aunt Katherine. He couldn't protect her, couldn't carry as much, couldn't--

It was moments like these that his demon whispered to him. Outside of the toxic environment where she could only support him so much without his sister or his parents undoing all of her work, Beau told him he was strong. She spoke of strength, of a desire for more. Of a craving for power and what talents he did have. None of the men around them could see the future, could they? Their powers lay only in their strength, not in their mental or magical capacity. And even then! He had proven, hadn't he, that he could endure pain that they couldn't.

Her whispers gave him strength, and coupled with his Aunt's brash affection, he thrived. The doubt remained, but as he got older and grew into himself more, he found that he wasn't nearly as unattractive as he thought. It wasn't hard for him to find a lover when they visited a new place, a one night stand or a few weeks of passion, he grew into his sensuality and sexuality, and he broke many a lad's heart when he moved on. Beau was proud of him.

An accident brought them back home to Minnesota, though not near his family. Aunt Katherine needed to recover from a few broken bones, and it was time for them to catch their breaths. He received a surprise: a letter from his sister. She apologized to him, and spoke of the falling out she'd had with their parents. She'd moved to the City, and she loved it there. She had finally escaped the pressure of being the doll their mother and father expected her to be.

He hesitated over it, but with urging from his Aunt and from Beau, he wrote her back. They did not speak of the past, but of their current futures, and things were going well... until she wrote about a worry she had. Sometimes, she claimed, she felt like she was being followed on her way home from work. She worried that she was being stalked. She didn't feel safe, and even her demon was unsettled.

And then the letters stopped.

Unable to let it rest, Gil bid his Aunt goodbye, and went to the City to look for her. He's taking pictures and working at a bar at night, looking for answers into his sister's disappearance. He'll find her, and find out what happened to her, if it's the last thing he does.

Demon Information

Beau is a vivid, brilliant demon who takes the form of a dark haired woman she claims is Boudica, whom she had the pleasure of being hosted by many years before. She claims that it was her who told Boudica to kill herself rather than face capture, and she is ruthless when it comes to a fight. She does not believe in cowardice, and she helped Gil grow into the man he is today.

Though she has not forgiven Lisette for the way she treated Gil, she does remember vividly that Boudica and Gil both care deeply for the family that they have, even when it hurt them in the process.
