Koay was quiet, as he wandered the streets of Peri. Towering buildings; beautiful architecure. Beside of him walked a young boy, large brown eyes skimming the people as they passed. Kilikina walked along behind of them, a bit. He was keeping a close eye on her; she was known to get lost--try to prostitute herself. Sometimes she wouldn't know what year it was.

"Look, Okinou." He'd chime softly, gesturing to show the boy some of the lovelier pieces of building. "Isn't it pretty?"

"Yes, daddy." He chimed, smiling widely as he gazed at the building. "Is aunt Kina okay?" He inquired; as always the child was worried about the woman that lived with them. Okinou was a very perceptive child, and that was possibly what Koay loved about the boy.

"She's fine, don't fret." He paused so that the woman could easily catch up to them. He offered his sister a warm smile, grinning towards her. "Are you okay, Kina?" She gave a brief, jerky nod as she moved to cross the street, pulling Okinou with her.

Koay moved quickly after them. "Kina! Kinou!" He addressed them both sharply, using their nicknames, as he latched onto both of them. "You know not to go anywhere without me together." He was harsh, as he pulled his sister against him, to hiss in her ear: "He's my son, Kina. You're my ward."

She'd snap: "Kua would let me be free!" and jerk away, and he let her go. She relinquished her hold on the boy, and Koay pulled the child into his arms, and then onto his shoulders. "Who's Kua? Uncle Kua?"

"Yes, Kinou."

"Why's she not free?"

"Because she can't live alone." He was walking briskly after Kilikina now, scowling. The woman had brought up questions; and they were not ones he really wanted to answer.

NOTES N/A

Although it wasn't often that he actually had a day off, today the Blanchard heir finally had the opportunity to spend some time alone. The board members of his family's company had tried to put in their two cents about him taking off a day for himself — he was the CEO, after all — but he had refused them. After all, there wasn't very much they could do besides bitch about him leaving the office. The Vice Lord had also chosen to spend one day away from his duties as head of the Acedia family, a break he hadn't realized he had needed until he had actually taken it. The stress of running both a famous company in the spotlight, as well as one of the known criminal families in the underground criminal activity ring was exhausting, especially for someone that preferred to spend their time more carefree and relaxed in terms of responsibilities. Étienne had never been one to follow the rules, persay, even if he still only did the bare minimum required to keep both positions.

Peri was his destination for the day, a place far enough from roaming eyes that he should more-or-less be able to travel around freely without being stopped by one person or another. The man's faithful demon dog trotted along at his side, tongue hanging out of his open mouth as his body swayed from side to side, occasionally touching up against his human's leg as if looking for reassurance that he was still there. Étienne responded by resting one of his gloved hands affectionately on the top of the canine's smooth head, fingers idly stroking the silky smooth skin pulled taut against the demon's skull. Though the man did not verbally speak with his demon, he knew the dog was able to read his emotions through their telepathic connection, and at that moment, he no doubt was able to pick up on the Vice Lord's mood: irritation. There were so many people that he was constantly brushing up against someone or other. It would have been so easy for someone of his caliber to pick a few pockets as he went along, but luckily enough for them, he only went for the bigger targets.

The French heir knew that he wanted to get out and leave already — perhaps go back to his place to have a quiet night in without anyone bothering him — but the people rushing about were making that harder than it should have been. At one point someone stepped on his expensive designer shoe and he turned around to snarl at them, only for them to be swallowed up by the crowd. Glasgow whined in his head as the dog's eyeless head turned upwards, pressing up against his hand in a worried manner. Étienne responded by petting the dog, as if to reassure him that it would be alright, before continuing to push his way through the crowd. Finally he made the breakthrough he needed — only to suddenly crash into someone else that was loitering around outside the crowd of people. Although his pride made the arrogant man want to berate whoever it was that had gotten in his way, his more business-like side broke free at the last moment and he instinctively spoke:

“Pardon me,” his unique French accent trickling through with his words. Grey-blue eyes lifted to look into the spectacular blue eyes of the man he had walked into, barely making note of the other two people currently with the man. The Blanchard heir said nothing else as he turned to continue on his way, obviously not recognizing the man he had walked into.

Not yet, that is.

Koay furrowed his brow as someone bumped into him, and his eyes instinctively sought those of the other. Grey-blue hues. A French accent. The man began to leave, though Koay reached out, grabbing his wrist.

"Ettie? Is that... you?" He was so focused on the man, that he hardly noticed Kilikina had made off with the child. However, as this realization came to him, he called, "Kilikina! Okinou!"

He released the Blanchard, cursing. "Kina! Kinou!" The man rushed past the Blanchard, hardly paying mind to the answer the man might have given him. He calmed as he found the little boy, a few paces ahead. "Daddy! She ran off..."

He scooped the child into his grasp and murmured, "That's okay. We'll find her." He'd brush his hands through the child's hair, as he turned a quick circle, eyeing the crowd around him. He needed to find Kilikina, before she hurt herself or someone else.

After already excusing himself, the Blanchard heir was already on his way back through the crowd in the direction of where he was originally heading. What he didn't expect was a strong grip suddenly wrapping around his wrist — strong enough to pull him back slightly and hold him in place. He attempted to yank his hand out of the stranger's grip but the man held fast, enough for Étienne to turn himself back around with a snarl on his lips. He didn't have time to reprimand the stranger, however, before the man suddenly spoke and... Addressed him by a rather intimate nickname that only people from his past called him by. The Blanchard heir paused long enough to finally take in the features of the man standing before him: tall and packed with muscles, skin the colour of milk chocolate and eyes a brilliantly blue contrast to the dark tones of his body. It took him a long second before he finally recognized the man. It had been so long, after all, and the man had grown up so much since they had last seen one another. But he would recognize those eyes anywhere.

“Koay?” he choked out the man's name, but before he knew it the grip on his wrist had already vanished and the man had taken off after someone else in the crowd. He stood still, watching the man as he slowly began to disappear in the throng of people. Only once Glasgow nudged his hand and whined did he finally snap out of his stupor and — for the first time in a long time — he found himself chasing after another person.

Thankfully Koay hadn't gone very far, and it didn't take long for the Vice Lord to draw close enough that they were no longer separated by other people. His eyes widened slightly as he took in the child that Koay was now hugging, but his attention redirected onto the worried expression on the man's face.

“Koay? What's wrong?” he asked, his normal cold demeanor flying out the window at the sight of someone he had known from so long ago. Memories of their time spent together were hazy, but for the time being he focused instead his attention on the present — and the anxious expression on the man's face. He didn't even bother to question who the child was.

He heard his name, again, though he simply called: "Auhea oe, e ke kaikuahine? (Where are you, sister? Hawaiian.)" His native tongue was smooth from his lips, as the little boy repeated the same phrase. Though, of course this would be translated.

"Okinou, you do not leave my side." The boy stared up at his father, "But..." The child furrowed his brow as he studied his father; before he glanced away, and tangled his hands into his own hair.

"Aunt Kina is dangerous when she is alone." He responded simply, giving a nod, as he waited for the boy to note he had understood. "You are not to approach her, if you see her." Once he had gotten that across to the young child, he moved to settle him onto his feet, and offered a hand outwards.

Okinou's gaze had found Étienne, and he whispered, "Daddy? Why does he call you that?" The child was not used to hearing his father's name spoken without the accent he was used too; they primarily spoke Hawaiian within the confines of their home, and he thought that the way Ettie pronounced 'Koay' was strange. However, Koay waved the child's concerns off. "Kinou, this is my friend, Étienne. Ettie, this is my son, Okinou. We seem to have lost his aunt, Kilikina. I trust you remember... her." His voice had quietened, and there was probably a hint of disdain there.

The boy stuggled, before Koay replied, "Ettie." This pleased Okinou, who tugged his father's shirt with a whine. "There! Daddy!" However, when Koay's gaze roamed the crowd, where the child pointed, she was nowhere to be seen. "She was there, daddy! I promise she was!"

Koay hushed the child, and allowed his gaze to roam. And then, he could hear someone screaming. And that was when he moved. He pulled the boy roughly into his arms, and started off at a run, shouting, "Kilikina!" He only ran a few feet, before he found her. She was pressing her hand against a young man's arm, and his veins were blackening; his flesh ashen. "Kilikina. You don't want Okinou to see this, do you?" Koay was calm, as he moved to set the boy down behind of him.

"Come on. Stop that, let this man be. What did he do to you, dear?" Kilikina was sobbing, crying, her nails digging into the decaying flesh. As her brother talked to her, she released the man; after ending the necrosis--it would not spread; but it had spread quite a good bit in the few minutes she had held onto him. "Come on. Let's get you cleaned up, yeah?" He'd hug her to his chest, brushing his fingers through her hair.

Okinou stood behind of his father, staring at the dead flesh on the man's arm. He moved to cling to his father's leg, and listened as Koay calmed the woman, softly. "You did not mean too, did you?"

"Milu." She mumbled, as she pressed her face into her brother's shoulder. "Milu." Her demon. He pulled her tight against him, whispering, "You tell Milu to calm himself down." He'd release her only after she had calmed her breathing, and had begun to find her balance once more. He hated that she had such a dark creature sharing her body.

NOTES N/A

Étienne couldn't quite get over the shock of seeing someone from his past again, especially someone that had been part of some rather painful memories from his past. He couldn't help but openly stare, just barely catching the conversation that passed between the man and the younger child. He did catch the word 'daddy', and he couldn't help but move his gaze to stare in shock at the small child. Koay had a son? Well, then again, it was understandable; it had been almost ten years since they had last seen one another, and things were bound to change for the man over the years. Just because the Blanchard heir had been too busy with his work to form any kind of relationship, didn't mean the other man was the same. It was still a shock nonetheless, and kept him in relative silence as Koay began to speak to him again. Son. The confirmation hit him harder than he thought it would, even though he had not seen the man in so long. He visibly flinched at the mention of the man's sister.

“Yes, I remember Kilikina,” he murmured in response, eyes dropping away from Koay at the sound of the disdain in the man's voice. The memory of it all was a painful one for him, but it was also not something he planned to dwell on for very long. After all, Koay had mentioned that they had lost sight of his sister; surely she couldn't have gone far? But then again, the City was so big, and it was easy for people to find themselves lost in the labyrinth of floors. His blue-grey eyes snapped upwards when the boy suddenly pointed wildly in a direction, but he did not see anyone that would resemble the Kilikina that he remembered.

Koay took off suddenly in the direction of where screams could be heard, and Étienne followed behind the man. The Kilikina that he remembered from his past was certainly not the woman he saw now, crying as she dug her fingers into some stranger's arm, turning it black with necrosis. The Blanchard heir was taken aback by the sight — not that it sickened him, persay, as he saw many more worse things during his work as a Kairos Vice Lord. But it still was unsettling, especially when he knew the person that had caused such a thing.

“Koay,” he called the man's name numbly as he stepped forward towards the small family, his gaze flicking to the woman's face for a moment, unsure as to whether or not she would recognize him the same way her brother did. “We should keep moving. It would be best if you did not linger,” he murmured in a soft voice, already feeling unnerved by the large group of people that were now beginning to gather around the spectacle. He knew better than anyone else what came from hanging around the scene of a crime for too long. Waving the man to follow him, Étienne started heading off through the crowd of people, Glasgow still padding along at his side as he made his way down a labyrinth of alleyways, bringing them further away from the swarm of people that certainly didn't help Kilikina's situation.

Koay jerked Kilikina along behind of him, moving after Ettie. His other hand held tightly to Okinou, ignoring Kilikina as she lunged toward Ettie. "Stop that." He ordered, shifting his hold on her so that he could catch her around the waist. "You stop that right now, Kilikina. You're scaring the boy." He moved to usher Okinou ahead, with Ettie, murmuring softly, "You don't want him to have nightmares, do you? Huh? Kilikina?" The woman finally calmed, and he led her slowly along behind the other two, keeping them just in sight. And then when they reached an area that he felt safe in, he shoved Kilikina in first, and claimed Okinou in his arms.

"I'll leave you here, you crazy bitch." Koay, don't be so angry with her. She's broken. You saw her shatter, Pele chided, only to be ignored. The demon, who never actually took a corporeal form, and had never shown herself to her host, sighed in his mind and went silent. She rarely spoke, actually. Taking Pele's words into account, as he shifted Okinou in his grasp, he spoke again: "Kina, you can't go off making people... melt into black muck. Okay? It's simply not proper."

The woman stared up at him, whimpering, one hand dragging through her hair roughly. "Milu..." It made Milu happy. Koay was convinced her demon was some kind of vampire in a past life, just for the various ways he enjoyed seeing people die--having their mortality sucked away by a single touch, or the few times the demon had convinced Kilikina to actually drink someone else's blood. "I know, love. But you need to tell Milu no."

He watched as she twisted hair around her fingers, whispering, "No, no, nononono..." He knelt to offer a hand, pulling her to her feet gently. "So we're going to get you home, and I'll call a sitter..." His gaze found Ettie again, and he sighed, shaking his head. "This is probably the worst thing to find each other at."

He tousled the child's hair, as he placed the boy down. "How've you been, Ettie?" You reigned your temper in well, Koay. I am proud. Pele's voice echoed.
